2 kinds of mindset are either making or breaking your life
In Mindset, Carol Dwek demonstrated two kinds of mindsets that govern our life. Fixed and Growth Mindset.
Suppose you’ve started a business and tried for a few months and quit because things did not go your way. This is an example of a fixed mindset.
Because when it is required to learn new skills, you back off and start working around your comfort area. It’s just one example, and you see such kind of occurrence in many aspects of your life.
People with a fixed mindset consider if they need to put effort to do something, then they won’t appear smart in front of others. So they tend to fall back to their proven ability and fail to discover new skills.
Contrary to fixed mindset people, there are people with the growth mindset who thrive on efforts. They think that they may not have the ability right now, but they will acquire it.
People with the growth mindset simply don’t quit because it did not work the first time, or things are challenging. Instead, they transform setbacks into future successes.
Hence, our mindset determines our growth. It decides whether we live as failure or embrace efforts towards success. It concludes whether we’ll become the man/woman of our dream or not.
People with a growth mindset don’t consider that their skills are limited, and they can’t go beyond a certain point, but important qualities and skills can be cultivated through efforts.
Audit yourself to see what mindset do you have? You could find that you have a fixed mindset in one area whereas a growth mindset in other. Like you can easily talk to strangers, but you may not want to improve your current set of professional skills.
So how can you fix this?
Bring a pen and paper, and look for yours. If you have got a fixed mindset in the area that’s essential for who you want to become and stopping you, then you must change it.
Making mistakes is inevitable, and being sensitive to being seen as a failure leads to ignorance.
